We are delighted to now stock Fermob, the French maker of colourful metal garden furniture. This guide walks through the main ranges we carry, what makes each one different, and how to choose the right pieces for your terrace, balcony or garden.
Why Fermob?
Fermob was founded in France and still manufactures in the Ain region today. Its furniture turns up everywhere from Parisian parks and cafés to hotels, rooftop terraces and private gardens, and the brand is known above all for colour: shades range from soft neutrals and earthy greens to bold reds, blues and yellows. That makes it easy to pick a finish that works with your planting, your house or the colour of your front door.
As a Fermob retailer, we have chosen a selection from its best-known families, so here is how they compare.
Luxembourg and Bistro: The Parisian Classics
The Luxembourg range was inspired by the historic chairs in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris and reimagined by designer Frédéric Sofia. Made from lightweight aluminium with curved slats, it is easy to move and rearrange, and it suits modern gardens, outdoor dining areas and roof terraces.
Bistro goes back to an original folding chair patent from 1889. It was designed for Parisian cafés, where furniture needed to be folded and stored away quickly, and that same simplicity is why it works so well today on balconies, small terraces and courtyard gardens. If space is tight, Bistro is usually where we suggest starting.
1900: Belle Époque Romance in Metal
For period homes, country gardens and romantic corners, the 1900 collection draws on the decorative ironwork of historic Parisian balconies and architecture. The 1900 Chair takes its cue from French gardens, squares and bandstands while adding modern ergonomic design; it was redesigned a little over a decade ago.
Pair five or six chairs with the 1900 Table, a round garden table that seats five to six people. For a quieter spot, the 1900 Bench has hand-forged scrolls and pretty perforations, and is equally at home on its own under a tree or alongside a table.
The 1900 Armchair is a curved garden armchair with scrolls and rings, ideal at the head of the table. If you want somewhere to curl up with a book, the generously sized 1900 Cabriolet Armchair works indoors or out, and the 1900 Ø 45 cm Low Table is made to go with it. At 34 cm high, that little table doubles as a side table, pedestal or footrest.
Bellevie: An Outdoor Living Room
If you would rather lounge than dine, Bellevie is Fermob's modular seating, designed by the studio Pagnon & Pelhaître with aluminium frames, clean lines and soft curves. Because it is modular, you can build exactly the shape your terrace needs.
- Start with the Bellevie 2-Seater Club Sofa for a compact seating area.
- Build an L-shape using the Bellevie 2-Seater Corner Module and single modules.
- Add a Bellevie 1-Seater Ottoman as a footstool or extra perch when friends come round.
Light It Up and Choose with Confidence
The Balad² Lamp, designed by Tristan Lohner, is a cordless portable lamp that moves from the dining table to the garden path and back indoors at the end of the evening.
A few questions help narrow down the right range:
- How much space do you have? Balconies and small courtyards suit folding Bistro; larger terraces can take Luxembourg dining or a Bellevie lounge.
- What style is your house? 1900 suits period properties and traditional gardens; Luxembourg and Bellevie feel more contemporary.
- Dining or relaxing? Decide whether the table or the sofa is the main event, then build around it.
- Which colour? Pick out a shade from your planting, brickwork or paintwork, or go bold and let the furniture be the colour.
