Elixir of Life fabric is a printed fabric from Archive By Sanderson Design featuring eccentrically coloured unicorns, each repeated in a subtle mirror effect. The work, redrawn in charcoal, was created by Walter Hoyle. In 1958, it was acclaimed by all his contemporaries. This cotton fabric is an example of the English mid-century modern aesthetic.

Arthur Sanderson & Sons Ltd played a pivotal role in defining English interior decoration tastes and its early success led to displaying designs at London’s finest showroom, at Berners Street. Around this time in 1924, Arthur Sanderson & Sons Ltd were awarded The Royal Warrant, becoming “purveyors of wallpaper and paint” to the court of George V.
