Kintsugi Dessert Plate N2 - Seletti

Bringing an offbeat attitude and Italian-made high-quality to our homes since 1964, Seletti is back with its Kingtsugi collection. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of 'Kintsugi' which repairs broken pottery with hints of gold, this fruit plate has been crafted from porcelain and features flecks of 24-Carat with floral motifs and an asymmetric trim. Elegant yet unusual, it's sure to be a talking point at tea and every other occasion.

Contrary to western belief, in the east, when something is broken, mending it gives it even more beauty. Kintsukuroi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, used here by the Italian maker Seletti to craft the Kintsugi bowl. It’s a Marcantonio design with cultural inspirations. Just when you thought your tableware couldn’t get any more desirable… (cheers, Seletti, we’ll drink to that).

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

By creating this collection, designer Marcantonio is exploring themes like the relationship between man and nature, art and design, philosophy and the way things are. These sculptural objects, at the boundary between art and design, create a dreamlike, poetic, fantastical world.

After attending the Academy of Fine Arts, Marcantonio started creating unique pieces of design, enriching them with artistic concepts. He is quickly becoming one of the most esteemed Italian art designers of his generation. Connections between people and nature are his favourite theme, interpreting both the dynamics and beauty of them.
