The August collection by Vincent Van Duysen for Serax is made of aluminium and it is available with a black, grey or eucalyptus green powder coating. This makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The chairs, lounge chair, and tables articulate the sheer simplicity of the monastic life they were inspired by.
Vincent Van Duysen: “Furniture should never clamour for attention, it should become one with its surroundings, unnoticed. It is the users who add colour.”
Vincent Van Duysen is known for his ability to seamlessly translate sheer minimalism into comfort in his own unique way. The interior architect has mounted additional supports on the armrests, and the seat and back are slightly curved to provide more support. The weatherproof lounge chairs are made entirely of black or grey-green powder-coated aluminium and can be used both indoors and outdoors for a wonderful moment of relaxation

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Vincent van Duysen’s collections for Serax epitomise the pureness of form and intuitive relationship with materials that have helped cement his reputation as one of Europe’s leading architects and designers.
He quickly garnered international acclaim for his ability to create distinctively atmospheric, serene, and tactile spaces in which every element is connected and considered: a “total environment”.
Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has refined this approach, applying it at every scale. From buildings to chairs, each project is richly layered, drawing on influences from art history and Modernist architecture and design, and combining a deep respect for natural materials and colour palettes with a singularly contemporary sensibility.
Serax is a Belgian design label, that has been active for over 30 years and is still managed with a passionate family spirit. Today Serax works with stand-out designers from all over the world: Ann Demeulemeester, Vincent Van Duysen, Paola Navone and Piet Boon are just a few names from the illustrious list.
