What size is a roll of wallpaper?

Most of our wallpapers are standard sizes, measuring approximately 52 cm (21 inches) in width and 10 m (11 yards) in length. These are often referred to as Metric single rolls or bolts and are double the length of a standard American single roll. However, some wallpapers may vary, with wider widths or shorter lengths. Please check the specific dimensions of your chosen wallpaper before ordering. If you have any questions, our customer service team is happy to help.

What does the pattern repeat on my wallpaper mean?

Wallpaper is printed on rollers, which creates a repeating pattern. On plain or striped wallpapers, the repeat may not matter, but for patterned designs, it’s important to understand the repeat type.

• Straight Match: The pattern aligns directly across the width of the wallpaper. The wallpaper label will indicate the pattern repeat length (e.g., 53 cm).

If I haven’t ordered enough wallpaper, can you match a batch number for me?

Yes, we can help match batch numbers. When placing an order, use the 'Request a Batch Number' section on the ‘Your Basket’ page to provide the exact batch details you need.

What is a batch number?

Wallpapers are printed in batches, and it’s essential to have rolls from the same batch to ensure an exact colour match. The batch number is typically printed near the pattern number on the wallpaper label. This applies to all wallpapers, including plain white ones, as shades can vary slightly between batches.

Why do some wallpapers say 'paste the wall'?

Modern wallpaper manufacturing has introduced new technologies, such as the use of polyester fibres in paper pulp. This means these wallpapers don’t expand when wet and don’t need to soak before hanging. The adhesive can be applied directly to the wall, making the process quicker and easier—ideal for beginners.

While you can still apply paste to the wallpaper in the traditional way, soaking is not necessary. Another advantage is that 'paste the wall' wallpapers are easier to remove when it’s time for a change.

Should I use lining paper?

We always recommend using lining paper to create a smooth base for wallpaper and to hide minor wall imperfections. This is especially useful for beginners.

• Use a heavyweight lining paper, such as Albany 1200 grade, for the best results.
• Ensure the adhesive you use for your lining paper matches the adhesive for your top wallpaper.
• For ‘paste the wall’ wallpapers, use a matching ‘paste the wall’ lining paper.

Cross Lining: Hang the lining paper horizontally to create an even base for the top wallpaper.

How do I know if my wallpaper is suitable for my room?

• Bathrooms: Vinyl wallpapers are ideal as they resist moisture and are splash-proof. However, in a well-ventilated bathroom, any wallpaper can be used with care. Avoid using wallpaper in direct contact with water, such as in showers or around sinks.
• Kitchens: Like bathrooms, vinyl wallpapers are best, but other types can be used in well-ventilated spaces where they won’t be exposed to heat or water.

What Happens If My Wallpaper Is Out of Stock?

If your chosen wallpaper is out of stock, we will email you with an updated delivery date. You will also have the option to select an alternative product if the revised date is not suitable.

In some cases, there may be a delay due to the wallpaper needing to be reprinted. We will keep you informed, allowing you to decide whether to wait or choose a different option.
