Marigold is a tranquil, charming climbing design created by William Morris in 1875, one of the few patterns he intended for both wallpaper and fabric. Its simple use of colour and skilful repeat make it hugely versatile in any part of the home.
It comes on two cloths: Summer Yellow/Chocolate, Sky/Chocolate, Cream/Sap Green and Cream/Orange are from the Cornubia collection designed with Ben Pentreath, on a light cotton-linen for curtains and light upholstery; the other six are on a linen-rich blend at 20,000 Martindale (see the spec below). William Morris (1834–1896) was one of the most influential figures of the nineteenth century: a designer, poet, publisher and campaigner. The firm he founded in 1861 with friends from the Pre-Raphaelites, which became Morris & Co. in 1875, grew into an icon of the Arts & Crafts movement, and its designs, rooted in nature and hand-craftsmanship, are still produced today under licence by Sanderson.
