The Qeeboo Rabbit Chair, designed by Stefano Giovannoni, is one of those pieces people recognise instantly, and you may well have spotted it on ITV's Love Island. It now comes in several versions, from a child-sized Baby to a Metallic finish and even a lamp. Here is how they differ, and where each one works best.
The original Rabbit Chair
The Rabbit Chair is made from tough, lightweight polyethylene and can be used indoors and out. It is loved by adults and children alike, partly because there is more than one way to sit on it. You can lean back against the rabbit's ears, sit the other way round, or ride it and rest your forearms on the ears.
Because it is light, it is easy to move from the patio to the playroom as the seasons change. It also holds its own as a statement piece in a living room.
Rabbit Chair Baby: sized for children
The Rabbit Chair Baby is the original rabbit-shaped chair in a smaller version, designed with little people in mind. Children can sit leaning against the ears, ride the rabbit either way and rest their forearms on the ears, just as on the full-size chair.
It is a natural fit for a nursery, playroom or child's bedroom. A Baby next to a full-size Rabbit also makes a lovely parent-and-child pairing in a family room.
The Metallic versions
For a more glamorous look, the Rabbit Chair Metallic offers the same shape and the same ways of sitting, in a metallic finish. Note that the Metallic chair is for indoor use only, so keep it inside rather than in the garden.
There is also a smaller Rabbit Chair Baby Metallic, the child-sized rabbit in a metallic finish. It brings a bit of sparkle to a child's room, and works just as well as a quirky accent in an adult's space.
The Rabbit Lamp: a chair that lights up
The Rabbit Lamp Outdoor LED takes the Rabbit Chair and makes it glow. It is both a light source and a chair: you can still lean against the ears or ride it. It has a rechargeable battery, an LED light with a touch switch and a progressive dimmer, so you can set the brightness to suit the evening.
Because it runs on a rechargeable battery, it can go wherever you need it without a cable. Place one on a terrace for summer evenings, or by the back door to light the way.
Where to use each version
- Garden, patio or terrace: the original Rabbit Chair, plus the Rabbit Lamp for evening light.
- Living room: the original or the Metallic as a playful accent chair beside a sofa or in a corner.
- Playroom or child's bedroom: the Baby or Baby Metallic, sized for small people.
- Hallway or landing: a single Rabbit makes a cheerful first impression and a handy perch for pulling on shoes.
Grouping two or three rabbits in different sizes or finishes turns them into a small family, which is often more charming than a single chair on its own. If you choose bright colours, repeat one in a cushion or rug nearby so the rabbit feels part of the room.
